25 kids take part in PAU computer programme

LUDHIANA, July 10: G.S. KALKAT, Vice-Chancellor, Punjab Agricultural University was the chief guest at the concluding function of a two-week training programme for school children in use of personal computers. Speaking on the occasion, he advised the children to take keen interest in the training as life for an educated person will be meaningless and in future without the knowledge of computers.

The training course was organised by the training unit of Department of Computer Science and Electrical Engineering and Computer Centre of the College of Agricultural Engineering, PAU especially for school children.

A total 25 trainees were invited to this programme which included eight girls and 17 boys. They were given training in basic programming system information, virus, word processing, data base and introduction to Windows 8217;95. They were also taught how to use the Internet and send E-mail messages. The students were taken on an educational trip to Chandigarh to show them the Centre of Electronics Design and Technology of India at Mohali.

Certificates were given to all the participants by the chief guest on the successful completion of the training programme. The function was attended among others by H.S.Sekhon, Dean, College of Agricultural Engineering, S.P.S.Brar, addl director of extension education, S.D.Khepar, national professor and all the related faculty members and officials.
