MUMBAI, JULY 13: Two gangsters belonging to the Bahrain-based Ali Budesh gang were arrested for trying to extort money from a financial consultant on Sunday evening. According to investigating officer police sub-inspector Dilip Phatangare, the gangsters had threatened to kill a Kandivli-based consultant if he failed to pay up Rs 20 lakh.

The gangsters, identified as Ramavtar Kushavah and Sailesh Amarbahdur Singh, asked the consultant to meet them at Mahim and Dahisar. However, the gangsters failed to turn up. The consultant was contacted again, and asked to come with a first instalment of Rs five lakh to Keshav Baug Building on Naughar Road at Bhayandar. The police laid a trap, and the two gangsters were nabbed red-handed when they came to collect the money.

The duo told the police that they had been threatening businessmen, doctors, chartered accountants and other professionals residing at Borivali and Mira-Bhayandar. The case was investigated under the supervision of Senior Inspector Suhas Patil and PSISuryakant Talekar.
