
In an ongoing scuffle between two rival bootlegger gangs in Kheda district, four persons on the Mehmedabad-Dakor Road attacked an 18-year-old youth. Raju Deshmukh was shot on the leg by the assailants. The police said that Deshmukh was the brother of a wanted criminal, Raju Kadam, who was involved in two recent murders in Amraiwadi slum in Kheda district.
The incident occurred on Thursday, when Deshmukh was on his way to Mehmedabad on his Honda Activa. The four accused, on two motorcycles, shot at him from behind. According to Sub-Inspector S B Chauhan, Deshmukh has accused three other known criminals, Vimal, Shukdi and Arvind in the case. 8220;These three are known anti-socials from the area. We suspect it is the gang rivalry between Kadam and Vimal that led to the incident,8221; added Chauhan.
The officer said for the last one month, there has been an increase in criminal activity, as Kadam and rivals have been waging a full scale gang war. 8220;So far, there have been two murders, one similar attack on a local youth and a kidnapping related to this case. We have intensified patrolling in the area,8221; Chauhan said.
