CHANDIGARH, March 5: A Kullu resident, Roshan Lal, was today held guilty under Section 20 of the NDPS Act by UT Additional District and Sessions Judge G.S. Sandhu and was sentenced to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of 10 years and pay a fine of Rs one lakh.

In case of default of payment of fine, he was further directed to undergo RI for a period of two years.

Roshan Lal was booked under the said section on February 2, 1997 after he was found in the possession of two kg of charas, out of which 50 gm were taken for the purpose of testing.

The prosecution stated that on February 2, 1997 ASI Sanjiv Kumar, who was standing at Patiala counter of the bus stand, received secret information that one Roshan Lal coming from Himachal, will have charas in his possession and can be caught red handed.

The alleged accused was seen coming from the side of the lavatory of the HP counter and when he was searched in the presence of a DSP, two kg charas was recovered from a bag that he was carrying.
