Thailand8217;s Culture Ministry has issued what it calls the 8220;10 Commandments of Love8221; to encourage teens not to get too carried away with romance on Valentine8217;s Day.

The first commandment: 8220;Love with patience, so as not to become a young parent.8221;

No 4 urges youths to love carefully 8220;to avoid the risk of sexually transmitted diseases.8221;

8220;When you are young and in love you lack experience and can8217;t tell the difference between love and lust,8221; said Culture Ministry official Ladda Tangsuphachai. 8220;We want to provide some guidance.8221;

Sex isn8217;t the only subject broached by the commandments, which were released on Sunday. No 2 deals with monogamy 8220;Love only one person8221;. Others encourage couples to respect, trust and forgive each other.

Despite concerns that more Thai teens are engaging in premarital sex, a recent poll suggested that Valentine8217;s Day was not to blame.

Thirty-eight percent of females polled said they would refuse sexual advances if their boyfriends made any attempts on Valentine8217;s Day, while 16.4 percent said they would consent to sex. Twenty-nine percent were undecided and the rest declined to answer the question.
