‘No intention to lead NCP (SP). Jayant Patil is doing that job finely’: Rohit Pawar

When asked about the public display of disagreement over the organisational issues in his speech in Ahmednagar, Rohit Pawar said he did not target any particular person but spoke about the organisational structure and the way the party has been functioning.

Days after publicly raising the differences over the organisational issues within the NCP(SP), party MLA Rohit Pawar said on Monday he is ready to take up responsibility if given to him even as he pointed out that many of the party’s units are not working with necessary force.

During the party’s foundation day programme in Ahmednagar last week, Rohit Pawar, grand nephew of Sharad Pawar, and state party chief Jayant Patil indirectly took a swipe at each other through their respective speeches, alarming the NCP(SP) leaders and workers alike.

On Monday, Rohit Pawar said, “I meet many people when we travel to different parts of the state and when they express eagerness to work with the party, I fail to take them in because I have no organisational role… I have informed Pawar Saheb as well. He also agrees to it. I am ready to take up any organisational role offered to me by Sharad Pawar, Jayant Patil, and Supriya Sule. I am hopeful I will get a new role”.

The Karjat-Jamkhed MLA added it is being observed that while the parent body, the  Nationalist Congress Party (Sharadchandra Pawar), is working exceedingly well on the ground, other units like the student and youth wings are failing to do their job and need to put more strength.

“If I get the organisational responsibility, I will get more strength to do the job which I am already doing without any post or position in the party,” said Pawar, indicating he is eyeing the position in the party’s youth wing. “I have no intention to lead the parent body. Jayant Patil is doing that job finely,” he said.

When asked about the public display of disagreement over the organisational issues in his speech in Ahmednagar, Rohit Pawar said he did not target any particular person but spoke about the organisational structure and the way the party has been functioning. “It was not only my thought but also of many workers. If you listen to it carefully, even Jayant Patil seconded me in his speech,” he said.

Pawar also pointed out that the party’s frontal cells failed to raise the issue of irregularities related to the National Eligibility-Cum-Entrance Test (NEET). “It should have been raised with higher intensity. But it is good that finally, it is being raised,” he said.

Rohit Pawar once again claimed that 18-19 MLAs belonging to Ajit Pawar-led NCP were eager to cross over to their side, and are currently in touch with them. “But the Budget Session is important as MLAs get funds during this. Those who want to return will come back only after the Budget Session. It seems unlikely that this government will survive after the Budget Session as the ruling alliance itself will collapse,” he said.
