🚨 Big Story 

👉🏽 Violence in Nuh: Two days after violence erupted in Haryana during a procession led by the Bajrang Dal and Vishwa Hindu Parishad, clashes spread to neighbouring Gurgaon where some shops and a mosque were torched, and the mosque naib imam killed, taking the death toll to five.

👉🏽 When asked about the violence at The Indian Express’ latest Idea Exchange, Haryana Deputy Chief Minister Dushyant Chautala said that although this was the fourth year of the yatra, this time the official “management was not at its best”, with a key police official being absent.

👉🏽 So what led up to the violence in Nuh? Well, the Haryana police had granted permission for the Yatra, despite simmering tensions after two men were killed in Bhiwani in February, based on the assurance  that weapons would not feature in the procession. However, once a series of messages and videos on social media and messaging apps started doing the rounds, tempers began to flare. Here’s the full story. 

👉🏽 Speaking to the Indian Express, Gurgaon MP and Union Minister of State (Independent charge) Rao Inderjit Singh said it was not right for participants in a religious yatra to be carrying swords and sticks.
