I don’t want flawless skin, said no one! While we all want soft, smooth, and clean skin, it requires good skin care and healthy lifestyle habits, apart from genetics. Apart from the products you use on your skin, what you eat is equally important for healthy skin.

While too much sugar, oil, and processed foods can make your skin break out, there are some other food items that can nourish your skin. Tarun Dosanjh, a skincare coach and social media influencer, took to Instagram to share five such food items that are wonderful for your skin health.

1. Avocados: Avocados are high in inflammation-fighting fatty acids that promote smooth supple skin. They also contain a variety of essential nutrients that may prevent the negative effects of ageing, including vitamins K, C, E, A and B.

2. Amla: Amla is the most concentrated natural source of vitamin C which is known to have strong antioxidant and rejuvenating properties that hold the key to glowing, youthful skin by protecting your skin from free radicals – the molecules that disrupt collagen and cause wrinkle and sun spots.

3. Blueberries: Blueberries are rich in antioxidants that help combat signs of ageing. According to Healthline, they also improve blood circulation which can help with rejuvenation and glow. They also naturally boost collagen and reduce acne-related inflammation.

4. Pomegranate: Pomegranate contains about 48 per cent of the daily vitamin C and other antioxidants that help to block free radical damage and further reduce the signs of ageing.

5. Asparagus: Asparagus is nutritionally one of the most well-balanced vegetables, and is high in folic acid. A good source of potassium, fibre, and vitamins A, B6, and C, it promotes healthy skin by protecting the cells from toxins, and reducing the breakdown of collagen, thus, suppressing wrinkle formation.
