Does this DIY remedy work?

Sherin Bhan, cosmetologist, Studio 1915 Luxury Aesthetic Clinic said it is indeed a useful treatment modality. “Olive oil is perfect for the skin because it is unprocessed and has antioxidant properties, containing the healthy fats the skin needs. When mixed with salt, it produces a good scrub which helps in peeling off dead skin that accumulates on our hands thus helping with soft hands,” said Bhan.

“Apply this scrub on your hand and gently rub for about 15 minutes. This mild rubbing of the salt exfoliates the skin, getting rid of the dead cells while at the same time, the olive oil is absorbed by the skin to moisturise it and nourish the skin barrier,” said Bhan.

Finally, rinse your hands with warm water. “It is better not to use hot water since the skin loses all its natural oils. Take time to dry your hands with a towel. Then apply a hand cream,” suggested Bhan.

This particular hack works well for those who spend a lot of time washing utensils or clothes. “However, if you have skin issues, remember to patch test new treatments first, or go by what your dermat suggests,” said Bhan.
