June is marked as Pride Month globally in an attempt to celebrate and commemorate lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer people. This month-long celebration is marked by parades, events, art exhibitions, and performances, among others. To celebrate the same, Glamour UK has featured a pregnant transgender man on the cover of its Pride Month issue.

The cover star author Logan Brown, a transgender man who “unexpectedly” became pregnant with his partner drag performer Bailey J Mills, can be seen in a hand-painted three-piece suit illusion – a nod to Demi Moore‘s August 1992 Vanity Fair cover.

The cover was shot when Brown was in his last trimester of pregnancy, before giving birth to a baby girl. The cover was accompanied by a candid interview in which the author opened up about his pregnancy journey as a transgender man, his transition journey, and the birth of his daughter.

“I am a trans pregnant man and I do exist. No matter what anyone says, I am literally living proof,” Brown said, sharing that he received several hate comments and trolling upon the revelation of the pregnancy.

“I have done TikTok videos discussing the pregnancy and being open about it, and there have been some hate comments there, but I was easily able to brush those off. And then, recently, it kind of just blew up out of the blue. Another creator on Instagram who’s quite well-known said that ‘Men can’t get pregnant’ and got all their followers to come over onto my Instagram and harass me,” he said.

Brown went on to reveal that it was an accidental pregnancy and that he was not getting to change his identity just because he was pregnant. “This thing about ‘men can’t get pregnant’ is that I would not identify as anything else just because I found out I’m pregnant. It’s important for me to stay real with my identity. I am a pregnant man, and I am trans,” Brown said.

However, the pregnancy journey as a trans man was “terrifying” for Brown, he admitted. “Being pregnant, in general, is really, really difficult. Then add me being trans… I would have liked some mental health support. Some midwives get it and some midwives don’t. I feel like with LGBTQIA+, it shouldn’t be optional for them [NHS staff] to have that sort of training. It should be mandatory because we do exist and people are going in there. If that’s happened to me, how many more people is that gonna happen to?”

He added that he doesn’t want women to be erased when he asks for NHS to be more inclusive. “I’ve lived as a woman and I can fully understand how difficult it is for women. It’s horrible. It’s hard every day. But, it would just be nice for us [LGBTQIA+ people] to be more involved and for me to not be referred to as a woman,” the author said.

Logan also opened up about his labour experience before the birth of his daughter, Nora. “My waters broke and were open for 24 hours, and I went in for an induction due to some complications with the baby’s growth. I was induced for three days. When I eventually went into labour, it was great because they really accommodated our needs. They made the lights dim for Bailey and me because of our ADHD and autism; we had a playlist (lots of Fleetwood Mac); and I then went through every procedure you could imagine – drugs, epidural, everything – before I finally had an emergency caesarean. But at that moment in the C-section, Bailey got the scrubs on, and then she just arrived, and it was amazing,” he revealed.

However, Brown and his daughter got an infection because of the waters being open for 24 hours. “So, I felt a bit disconnected, and Bails had to look after her initially. But it was great, because we had the support of the midwives at the hospital, and all the things we had to learn, we learned at the hospital,” he shared.

As a new parent, Brown feels like he has only just gotten out of a dream that he has been in the past few days. “I just look at her and think, ‘Wow, you are really precious.’ I thought I was so organised, but nothing could fully prepare me for it all. Some of it, I expected to be hard, but what a massive achievement; we’re really, really lucky.”

Pride Month is extremely significant because it raises awareness of the ongoing fight for equal rights as well as acceptance of the LGBTQ+ community. It acts as a reminder of the important historical developments and the valiant people who fought for LGBTQ+ rights. Additionally, Pride Month serves as a platform for global allies and members of the community to come together in harmony and love.
