Canadian-American actor Pamela Anderson recently opened up about her decision of quitting makeup. Describing her experience as “freeing, fun and a little rebellious,” the 56-year-old told Elle that she decided to ditch her cosmetics to regain control of her image.

The Baywatch actor traded in her ultra-thin brows and smoky eyeliner glam for a more unadorned, unmade-up look.

Pamela has been proudly sporting a makeup-free face since her makeup artist Alexis Vogel passed away in 2019, following a battle with breast cancer. “She was the best. And since then, I just felt, without Alexis, it’s just better for me not to wear makeup,” the 56-year-old revealed.

“I did notice that there were all these people doing big makeup looks, and it’s just like me to go against the grain and do the opposite of what everyone’s doing,” Anderson continued. “I think we all start looking a little funny when we get older. And I’m kind of laughing at myself when I look in the mirror. I go, ‘Wow, this is really…what’s happening to me?’ It’s a journey.”

Of late, Anderson’s fashionable past is permeating every aspect of fashion’s present. #Pamcore is consistently trending, her classic outfits — that “Girl” baby tee and the proto-motomami looks from Barb Wire — have taken on a second existence on Instagram and Tiktok, and her G-string updo trick even became viral.

She admitted to Elle that her journey to becoming a full-fledged fashion insider has left her surprised. For the unversed, she opened the Hugo Boss show, sat in the front row at Jacquemus, and is now the face of Aritzia’s fall 2023 campaign for its Babaton line.

The Love, Pamela author wore a diamond tiara and went makeup-free on the cover of the digital issue of Women’s Wear Daily, an American magazine, in February. “I really feel powerful right now when everything’s very pared down,” she told WWD.

Anderson added that she preferred to age naturally rather than using Botox and fillers. “I don’t like those injections, and that doesn’t work on me,” the former Playboy Playmate said at the time. “I want to see what’s going to happen.”
