Experts decode how inner corner highlights can change your makeup game

According to Muskan Jain, brand manager at MARS Cosmetics, this subtle trick works on the principle of light reflection. “By applying a luminous product to the inner corners, you create contrast against the rest of the eye, adding depth and dimension,” she said. She recommended using finely milled shimmer eyeshadow, a pearlescent highlighter, or even a creamy eye pencil or kajal in champagne or ivory tones. A small, precise brush or fingertip application ensures a soft, refined finish.

Dheeraj Bansal, co-founder of Recode Studios, said, “For accuracy, use your fingers or a small brush.” To enhance dimension, he suggested pairing the highlight with either a bold or neutral eye look.

Drishti Madnani, co-founder and beauty expert at Shryoan Cosmetics, mentioned that this technique creates a lifting effect which is particularly effective for people with small or tired eyes. She suggested using a creamy long-lasting shimmering product in soft gold or ice silver. “To avoid sharp edges, blend gently and use a small pointed brush for precision,” she said.
