The Internet cannot get over Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone's appearance together on the latest episode of Karan Johar's Koffee With Karan. From giving the first look at their wedding video to talking about their lives as a married couple, the duo looked the picture of marital bliss. But they revealed they've had their fair share of problems, especially when Deepika had been struggling with depression. The actress shared how Ranveer created a “safe space” for her and was “patient” throughout. Deepika, who is still on medication, said, “It's work every day.” Talking about how her husband stood by her side, Deepika added, “What he (Ranveer Singh) did at that point was that he created a safe space for me to open up. Not once did he say, 'It's okay, forget it', or 'just let's go on a drive' or anything of that sort. At that point, he didn't understand it much, today he understands it a lot better. But he was just all there. He has been so patient. It told me a lot about the person that he is.” Dr Keerthi Karanam, psychiatrist, CARE Hospitals, emphasised the importance of educating yourself about your partner's condition if they've been struggling with any mental health issues and encouraging them to express their feelings and concerns. "Recovery takes time and it is important you don't stigmatise or blame them for their condition," she said. For these situations, Dr Karanam suggested maintaining a composed demeanor, first and foremost. "Let them talk without interruption. Offer reassurance. Stay with them or ensure someone else can." Have numbers of a crisis hotline or your partner's therapist ready at hand for extreme emergencies. It is also essential to take care of your own mental health while supporting your partner. (or even when you're caring for a parent with mental health issues) Here are 5 ways you can do it. Set boundaries: Ensure you have time for self-care. Educate yourself: Understand how to manage your own stress and emotions. Practice self-care: Engage in activities that help you relax and recharge. Maintain a support network: Lean on others who can provide emotional support. You can even join support groups. Or talk to friends, family, or a therapist about your feelings. Consider counselling: It's okay to seek help too. 📣 For more lifestyle news, follow us on Instagram | Twitter | Facebook and don't miss out on the latest updates!
