Aaliyah Kashyap and Shane Gregoire, who got engaged a couple of months back, regularly talk about love, life, and everything in between on their podcast titled 'Opposites Attract'. In the latest episode, the couple shared their stories of battling insecurities and thoughts on confidence. Aaliyah shared that she is insecure about her weight and body right now, and reflected on how bad such insecurities can be to one's mental health. "It's detrimental how bad your mental health can get because of this," she said. On the podcast, the 22-year-old said that she was always skinny and her metabolic rate was very high. "I used to eat a lot and I always wanted to put on weight because I was scary skinny. No matter how much I ate, I couldn't put on weight. And my mom used to be like that when she was younger too. So I knew it was kind of genetic," she said. "I think I've put on about 12 or 13 kgs in the last year and a half, which is a lot for me. It’s a huge change from what I've been used to my whole life," she said. While she was initially happy when she started gaining weight, it wasn't so pleasant later. "I wanted to get a little bit heavier. I didn't like how skinny I looked. But then it kept going. I was like 'Okay, that's enough. You can stop now.' But it just never stopped. It just kept going and going." Aaliyah shared that she started having a really unhealthy relationship with food, which affected her mental health. "People started commenting about my weight which affected my mental health. A couple of weeks ago, I got a massage lady to come and give me a massage at home. This is the lady I used to call about a year ago when I lived in my old apartment," she said. And I remember I went on the massage table, put my face between the little hole, and started crying." Aaliyah said that people should never comment about someone's weight. "Whether you look skinny, fit, or whatever because you don't know their struggle with their body. You don't their relationship with their body. I don't think it's a good idea to comment," she added. 📣 For more lifestyle news, follow us on Instagram | Twitter | Facebook and don't miss out on the latest updates!
