Genzyme goes knee-deep on Facebook

Launches awareness campaign for osteoarthritis.

Biotech firm Genzyme Corporation and the National Arthritis Foundation have launched a Facebook campaign to raise awareness about knee osteoarthritis (OA).

The ‘KneeToKnow’ campaign aims to kick off a discussion in India,Singapore,Malaysia and Philippines on the condition.

According to the organisations,knee osteoarthritis is the most common type of the ailment,far outnumbering osteoarthritis of the hips,shoulders and wrist.

Besides offering statistics of knee OA from around the region on its Facebook page and discussing its symptoms and treatment options,the page has also spread by inviting people to submit ‘knee art’,or images of doodles on knees to be featured on the site.

The campaign runs solely online and through public relations outreach to the media.
