Check out world's most expensive sushi (Source: Guinness World Records)What price would you deem fit for a plate of delectable sushi? A perfect harmony of flavours and textures, this delicacy has captured the taste buds and palates of food enthusiasts across the globe, making individuals shell out extravagant sums for a taste of exquisite sushi. Something similar was seen at Sushi Kirimon, a restaurant in Osaka in Japan, which has added to its menu a tasty but pricey serving of sushi.
The “Kiwami Omakase” course, comprised of 20 pieces of sushi, costs JP¥350,000 (£1,927; $2,475) (over Rs 2 lakh), making it the world’s most expensive sushi, according to Guinness World Records.
Notably, the previous record was set in 2010 by chef Angelito Araneta Jr, who served five nigiri pieces garnished with diamonds and wrapped in 24-Karat gold leaf costing customers 91,800 Philippine Pesos.
The records website further stated that Sushi Kirimon’s record-breaking serving is prepared using traditional Japanese techniques and methods. “Using carefully selected ingredients from all over Japan, the restaurant created this dish to promote Washoku (traditional Japanese cuisine),” it said.
The scrumptious dish comprises pieces of nigiri, which is thinly sliced raw fish placed on top of a ball of rice. There are also some pieces of sashimi (raw fish without rice) and two pieces of maki (sliced sushi roll).
