What makes it an ideal milkshake for summer?

Consuming figs in summer keeps the body healthy. “Figs are a powerhouse of fibre. They are rich in potassium, minerals, calcium, and vitamins, and help keep diseases at bay. Figs are also beneficial in relieving stomach-related problems like constipation and gas. They are also known to control blood pressure, and enhance the body’s immunity,” said Sahani.

Agreeing that it is a great summer drink, Payal Sharma senior dietician at Dharamshila Narayana Hospital told indianexpress.com, “It is refreshing, nutritious, and hydrating. Figs are rich in vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants, making the shake a healthy addition to your diet.”

Dr Babina NM, chief medical officer, Jindal Naturecure Institute called anjeer shake the ideal solution for summertime problems since it provides three advantages at once: “immediate energy, superior nutrition, and a cool flavour”. “Figs add a natural sweetness and fibre boost, while sabja seeds offer both a cooling impact and a dosage of vital minerals. Soaked almonds are an optional ingredient that provides the smoothie with a delicious crunch and additional health advantages,” said Dr Babina.

Sharma added that the natural sweetness of figs means you don’t need added sugars, which helps keep it healthy. “Additionally, anjeer shake can help in maintaining energy levels and promoting digestion, both of which are important during the hot summer months. Its cooling effect can further help in dealing with the heat, making it a perfect summer beverage,” said Sharma.

According to Sahani, soaking dry fruits overnight is a good idea to avoid body heat. “Soaking figs in water helps the body to assimilate them better”.

There are two types of fibre: Soluble fibre and insoluble fibre. “So when you soak figs in water, soluble fibre gets broken down and gets easier to assimilate. For adults, eating 3 to 4 figs a day in summer is enough to reap all the benefits. Meanwhile, kids should not be given more than 1-2,” said Sahani.

Is it good for weight watchers?

This shake is a weight watcher’s dream come true because it only has 150 calories per serving and has a well-balanced combination of protein, fibre, fat, and carbs, noted Dr Babina. “In addition, its ease of use makes it a great option for people with hectic schedules, guaranteeing that one may remain revitalised even during the intense summer heat,” said Dr Babina.
