Mira Kapoor, 31, recently shared how she likes to keep her otherwise super-packed mornings ‘quiet’ before getting into the day. “My morning routine, once my kids are off to school, those 30 minutes are sacred for me…I just like to do my own thing. I like to be quiet. Shahid knows that about me. I am slowly loading into the day till you power up. I have stopped checking my messages till I get into the car to go to work, like my emails. Otherwise, I am rattled even at the breakfast table. I like to read the newspaper. I am a little old school. So, my newspaper is next to breakfast. At breakfast, I use that time to either video call my sister..mostly my sister…or my friend…if Shahid is in town, we’ll spend the morning together, and then there’s a day of work,” Kapoor, who is an entrepreneur, told Masoom Minawala on her YouTube podcast.
She also detailed how it is “pretty much the same thing” once she is back from work. “When I come back, is pretty much the same thing. I am struggling to find time for a workout. That is one thing that has gone off. Whenever I can, I do it, but I will do it twice a week because that will keep me consistent. The moment I have to do four days a week, I will be feeling shitty about not doing the other two days. Evening is again back with my kids. They usually have some or the other class or sport.”
Mira also candidly spoke about spending time with her daughter, Misha, and her husband, actor Shahid Kapoor. “Misha is at home. Just chatting with her. She is 9. She is basically a teenager in her mind, so her friends would come over and maybe play a game of pickleball with the kids. Some days are pretty regular…not so exciting…once the kids are asleep, that’s when Shahid and I chill…watch a movie or on our phones next to each other…sending each other reels, but you are sitting right next to each other.”
Further opening up about a wellness gadget in her routine, Mira said: “I have to tell you, the last three days, I have been testing out the vibration plate. One new gadget that I have bought. How am I going to test it out for 30 days? So, I have put it in front of my sink, brush my teeth, and do all my morning things on it. Because it is the best way for you to combine multiple things. I am standing on something for 10 minutes…I was like…this is a waste of time…”
Taking a cue from her confession, let’s understand how to optimise the use of a vibration plate, known for aiding recovery and reducing soreness.
Standing on a vibration plate while brushing your teeth may look fun, but scientifically, it offers minimal metabolic or fat-loss benefit, said consultant dietitian Kanikka Malhotra.
“Whole-body vibration works best only when paired with active movements and a structured exercise routine. Passive standing provides very limited muscle activation, whereas intentional squats, calf raises and resistance work on the platform create meaningful results,” said Malhotra.
Treat vibration plates as an adjunct to a balanced diet, smart training, and sustainable lifestyle habits.
