Joining the bandwagon of people across the world who have been making and breaking Guinness records are those at the Yoga World Festival in Chennai. On December 5, 648 people came together to perform a sirsasana, or headstand, together and successfully broke the record of 408 people who did the same on International Yoga Day on June 21.

The conference of Yoga World Festival was held from November 30 to December 4 and included posting the Guinness World Record for the most number of sirsasanas. Organised by Yuvaa Yoga Manthiram, the aim of the festival was to bring together all fitness and yoga-enthusiasts under one roof and emphasise on the many benefits of the practice.

Reportedly, the festival which was organised at Mamallapuram, saw 50 odd certified experts in Acro Yoga, Kung Fu, Tai Chi and Laughter Yoga from across the world coming together for the event.

According to a report by The Hindu, the organisers saw about 3,000 students registering themselves for the event. In addition to the record-breaking headstand that people did as part of the celebrations, the event also reportedly saw the launch of MYoga app that helps people in Chennai to locate a yoga trainer within a 5km radius.
