Fans of Urmila Matondkar are reeling after news broke that she has filed for divorce from her husband, Mohsin Akhtar Mir. The couple, married for eight years, reportedly hit a rough patch, prompting the Rangeela actor to initiate a legal separation in Bandra, Mumbai, four months ago, according to what sources close to the couple told indianexpress.com.
Details remain scarce, with reports suggesting the split is not amicable. While The Times of India reported that Matondkar decided after careful deliberation, the exact reason for the divorce remains undisclosed.
In March 2016, Urmila surprised fans and the media by announcing her wedding to Mohsin, a Kashmiri businessman and model. The wedding took place in Mumbai, with famous fashion designer Manish Malhotra, a close friend of Urmila, one of the few Bollywood personalities present. The couple first visited the Golden Temple in Amritsar, following it up with a nikah.

In a statement after the wedding, Urmila expressed her joy, stating: “We kept it an exclusive wedding with just family and friends at the celebration. Since our families wanted the wedding to be a low-key affair, we mutually decided to keep it private. We seek your blessings on embarking on this new journey of our lives.”
The couple reportedly crossed paths at a mutual friend’s wedding in 2014. Their initial meeting sparked a quiet romance. Despite the considerable nine-year age gap and their religions, the couple is said to have connected over their shared interests, and they gradually began dating.
Following their wedding, Urmila and Mohsin maintained a relatively low profile, occasionally appearing together at events or sharing glimpses of their life on social media. Mohsin, an aspiring actor and model, supported Urmila’s career and her brief foray into politics, where she contested the 2019 elections as a Congress candidate.

For those who don’t know, Mohsin was an aspiring actor, having worked in films like Luck By Chance, B.A. Pass, among others.
