Bollywood actor Radhika Apte surprised fans with a baby bump reveal at the BFI London Film Festival screening of her latest film, “Sister Midnight,” on October 16. Apte, known for her powerful on-screen performances and bold choices, opted for a simple caption – “SISTER MIDNIGHT UK Premier #lff2024” – on her social media posts showcasing photos from the event.

Wearing a striking black off-shoulder midi dress with her hair in a bun, Apte radiated confidence as she posed solo and with the film’s cast and crew. This heartwarming news marks the first child for Apte and her husband, British violinist and composer Benedict Taylor, whom she married in 2012.

The couple, known for their private lives despite their careers in the public eye, met in 2011 when Apte was in London on a sabbatical from films, learning contemporary dance. Their connection blossomed, leading to a small wedding in 2012 before an official ceremony in 2013.

In a 2022 interview with India Today, the actor recalled, “When I got married to Benedict 10 years ago, we forgot to click pictures. We had a DIY marriage. We called our friends, made food ourselves, had the wedding at a place in Northern England, and partied. But no pictures. Even though half of our friends were photographers, none of them clicked any pictures. We were all so drunk. So I don’t have any pictures of my wedding. Which is nice in a different way.”

While Apte has carved a successful career in Indian cinema since 2005, her husband Taylor’s musical journey began in 2000. Passionate about deconstructing music and exploring the possibilities of his instruments, Taylor has composed for both British and European music scenes. Notably, he has also curated music for several critically acclaimed Indian films like “Udta Punjab,” “Paatal Lok,” and “Son Chiriya.” His collaboration with Naren Chandavarkar on “Ship of Theseus” remains a standout achievement.
