Celebrity showstoppers and innovative designs mark the return of high fashion to the Indian runway at this year’s Lakme Fashion Week -- here are the Day 4 highlights.

Actor Sobhita Dhulipala turned heads as she walked the ramp for designer Punit Balana on Day 4 of the Lakme Fashion Week in partnership with FDCI. Sobhita’s look from the exquisite collection featured a mesmerising wine-toned lehenga ensemble that exuded elegance and glamour.

The outfit comprised a striking bralette-style blouse adorned with intricate golden sequin embroidery, adding a touch of opulence. It was paired with a matching flared skirt that boasted delicate mirror embellishments around the waist and cascading down the side dorries, elevating the ensemble further. To complete her look, Dhulipala draped an ethereal organza dupatta with mirror-embellished borders, perfectly capturing the festive spirit. The actor discussed the lehenga’s distinctive purple hue and intricate detailing, sharing, “I like these different things coming together.”

Balana’s collection, ‘Johari Bazaar,’ pays homage to the vibrant city of Jaipur, a constant source of creative inspiration for the designer. The collection featured Khaka patterns inspired by playful puppet forms, while Mughal motifs were meticulously woven into the fabric, echoing Jaipur’s rich heritage. The colour palette, including jewel-like hues of Gulaabi Gulaal and Baingani, reflected the bazaar’s vibrancy. Actor Gurfateh Pirzada also graced the runway for Balana’s showcase.

Abhishek Sharma’s collection ‘Trin,’ meaning ‘grass’ in Sanskrit, blended opulence with earthy elements. It featured intricate ornamentation inspired by fields, using metal couching, heat-textured fabrics, and sustainable Raffia fibre. The colour palette transitioned from dawn to dusk, showcasing subtle beiges, vibrant tangerines, and deep midnight blues, with silhouettes ranging from structured jackets to asymmetrical winter drapes. Supermodel Ujjwala Raut walked for Sharma’s presentation.

Shilpa Shetty stunned as the showstopper for designer Megha Bansal, donning a dazzling blush pink lehenga. The 49-year-old actress’s outfit featured a plunging neckline blouse with shimmering sheer detailing on the bodice and sleeves, exuding elegance and sophistication. Intricate floral designs and sequin embellishments adorned the ensemble, paired with a matching flared skirt showcasing exquisite silver sequin embroidery.

Deepit Chugh’s Lineoutline collection drew inspiration from brutalist architecture, exploring urban structures and personal style within city landscapes. Rahul Singh presented ‘modern boheme,’ a men’s collection blending craft shibori with holiday styling in shades of grey, black, and white.

Actor Sharvari Wagh walked for Pankaj & Nidhi’s ‘Loop’ collection, described as a bold line crafted for the present moment and an infinite future. Monisha Jaising revived her ‘The Sailing Bride’ concept, with Riddhima Kapoor Sahni walking the ramp as a showstopper in designs for the cool, laid-back bride.

Dia Mirza showcased Samant Chauhan’s bridal collection, which redefined Indian bridal wear by combining modern silhouettes with traditional elegance. Chauhan said, “Ethereal Bloom weaves together tradition and transformation, celebrating the grace of flowers that flourish against all odds. Each piece is a tribute to nature’s transformative power, echoing my journey of growth and renewal.”

Finally, Aditi Rao Hydari presented Tarun Tahiliani’s new line for NEXA, described as “artisanal by nature, smart by design.”

The grand finale, scheduled for Sunday, October 13, will feature renowned designer Rohit Bal in collaboration with The House of Lakme. Last year, Bal faced a critical battle with dilated cardiomyopathy and pulmonary edema, which led to his hospitalisation. Now, having made a remarkable recovery, the ace designer is poised to close Lakme Fashion Week with an eagerly anticipated grand finale. He promises an unforgettable showcase centred around intricate rose embroidery, celebrating nature, beauty, and fashion.
