We are just minutes away from the grand opening of Manish Malhotra's show at India Couture Week 2016 and we can't hold back our excitement! The last time the ace designer was here we got to see him and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan work their charm on the runway. We hope this time, too, the designer gives us something spectacular to cherish. We mean, what can possibly go wrong with him being a master orchestrator of everything beautiful and two, we repeat, two showstoppers - Deepika Padukone and Fawad Khan - walking the ramp for him! While Khan is supposed to open the show, Padukone is expected to make an appearance towards the end for a grand closing. Presenting 'The Persian Story' for his Couture Collection 2016-2017 at the Taj Palace Hotel in New Delhi, the designer's collection will see a lot of Persian opulence. In a statement, the collection was described as, "Manish Malhotra's design narrative is inspired by the stunning architecture of Persia, blooming paradise of fauna and flora, and fearless royals that ruled their vast kingdoms. Indulgent hand-woven gold embroidery adorn sheer and velvet fabrics, in lehengas with sheer tops, opulent velvet jackets over cigarette trousers, exquisite gowns and regal sherwanis. Intricate motifs meander on 50 limited-edition pieces, swathed in deep shades of maroon, emerald green and azure blue." We have seen previews of some of his creations on Instagram and we can easily say that most part of the womenswear will be in dark tones with intricate embroidery and menswear will be in brighter hues, for a change. The designer has also shared a few photos of the set on Instagram, and it includes jaali work and a lot of ornate lighting. There were also glimpses of models being prepped up by the one-man glamour machine Mickey Contractor, MAC Cosmetics and jewels from Hazoorilal by Sandeep Narang.
