LIC assistant Prelims: The last date of Life Insurance Corporation (LIC) preliminary exam for recruitment at the post of assistant has concluded today. The day II exams were on the lines of day-I — of moderate difficulty level. Based on students' feedback English was the easiest and Reasoning comparatively the toughest of all three sections. Candidates who have attempted 31 questions in reasoning ability sections, 29 in quantitative aptitude and over 2 in English section can be considered to have made a good attempt. The preliminary exam is only qualifying in nature and those who clear this will be called for the Mains. The difficulty level of this section was between easy to moderate. One major surprise was that there were 15 questions from Simplification. Practising questions on BODMAS will help students in easily solving these questions. Some of the questions in this section were time-consuming. Reasoning Ability: Students had to attempt 35 questions in 20 minutes. The difficulty level was easy-moderate. One major surprise was that there were 9 questions asked from Alphanumeric series. Questions based on inequality were easy and time-saving. There were no questions asked from input-output topic. Below is the sectional breakdown: English Language: A maximum of 30 questions had to be done in 20 minutes. The level of difficulty was easy. Though the marks secured here will not be considered in the final evaluation, however, students need to score a minimum passing marks to qualify. Cloze test questions were of moderate level. Questions from sentence correction and para-jumbles were based on the old pattern. This is a multiple-choice test and each question has five options. Those who clear the LIC assistant prelims will be called for the main exam. The LIC assistant main examination is of 200 questions, 200 marks for multiple-choice questions to be answered in 150 minutes. Here also students have to qualify in each of the sections of the main exam.
