The 73-year-old Rajya Sabha chairman had been rushed to the hospital early on Sunday morning after he complained of chest pain and uneasiness. He was treated for “cardiac-related ailments” under the care of Dr Rajiv Narang, the head of cardiology at the hospital. The vice president had been admitted at the hospital’s cardio-thoracic and neurosciences centre.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP President and union health minister JP Nadda had visited him in the hospital. After meeting Dhankhar at the hospital, PM Modi wrote on X: “Went to AIIMS and enquired about the health of Vice President Shri Jagdeep Dhankhar Ji. I pray for his good health and speedy recovery.”
