Bhopal district authorities Saturday demolished “unauthorised” constructions belonging to two people accused of raping some college students. The demolition was carried out in the Arjun Nagar area of Raisin Road, where structures belonging to Shamsuddin (alias Saad) and Sahil Khan were razed during the early morning operation that began at 5 am under heavy police deployment. Govindpura Sub-Divisional Magistrate Raveesh Kumar Srivastava told the local media that the demolition was conducted according to established procedures, targeting “illegal encroachments” on government land identified as survey numbers 32, 42, and 43. Barricades were erected around the area Friday evening in preparation for the operation. The demolition follows a Govindpura Tehsil Court order dated August 19, which determined that the structures were built illegally on government land, officials said. The FIR on the back of which the action came was registered on April 25 after some students from a private college made the allegations against six people – including Ali, Saad and Khan. The families of the accused had vacated and locked the properties after receiving official notices from the administration. Court proceedings in the case continue as scheduled.
