Tripura Transport Minister Sushanta Chowdhury Saturday informed that the state government has decided to collaborate with Tata Technologies to upgrade 19 Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs).
“The decision was taken for the enhancement of employment opportunities for ITI students apart from upgrading the infrastructure of ITIs. We shall sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Tata Technologies Limited soon,” said Chowdhury.
The minister further said 11 more trades or subjects will be taught at the ITIs requiring an investment of over Rs 683.27 crore.
Tata Technologies would contribute 86 per cent of the amount and the state government the remaining 14 per cent. In addition, the state government would spend Rs 107.6 crore for the development of infrastructure in the 19 ITIs.
Asked about the spike in air travel costs, the transport minister said the state and the Union governments have no direct control over airfare.
