Soldiers return fire after Army vehicle comes under attack in Rajouri

Sources said the suspected militants fired at the vehicle from inside the forests, where they were hiding.

Suspected militants Wednesday opened fire on an Army vehicle near Sunderbani in Jammu’s Rajouri district.

Sources said the suspected militants fired at the vehicle from inside the forests, where they were hiding. The soldiers returned fire, sources said.

There were no immediate reports of any casualty on either side, officials said, adding that more details will emerge in a while.

The area is close to the Line of Control (LoC) and is considered an infiltration route for militants.

Soon after the exchange of fire, Army reinforcements were sent to the area, and a cordon and search operation was launched in the nearby forests to track the militants responsible for the attack.
