Rapper Hard Kaur booked for sedition over remarks against Adityanath, Bhagwat

UK-based rapper Taran Kaur Dhillon aka Hard Kaur has been booked for sedition for allegedly posting objectionable content against Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat on her Facebook account.

An FIR was Wednesday filed at Cantonment police station in Varanasi based on a complaint by lawyer and local RSS volunteer Shashank Tripathi.

According to Vijay Bahadur, Cantonment station house officer, Kaur has been booked under sections 124 A (sedition), 153 A (promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion, race, place of birth, residence, language, etc., and doing acts prejudicial to maintenance of harmony), 500 (defamation), 505 (statements conducing to public mischief) of IPC along with relevant sections of the Information Technology (IT) Act.

The official further informed that the investigation is being handed over to the surveillance cell of the crime branch.
