Normal life in Jammu was disrupted for the second day today due to the strike called by transporters to demand an increase in fares due to petrol price hike.
The entire public transport including buses,mini buses,public vehicles and autos were off the roads in Jammu city on the call given by various transport organisations.
Reports from various districts of Jammu region said that traffic was off the roads affecting normal life and people faced problems in reaching their work places.
Public transport on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway was also affected.
There was complete chaos outside the Jammu Railway station as commuters,including pilgrims going to the Mata Vaishno Devi,had problems reaching their destinations.
Meeting between the state government and transporters ended in a deadlock last evening,Vice-President,All Jammu and Kashmir Transporter Welfare Association (AJKTWA),Anil Chopra told reporters here.
After three hours of discussions,no agreement was reached so we extended the strike call for today, he said.
In case the talks failed to yield any tangible result,the transporters will announce future course of action later,he said.
