About 350 companies of para-military forces,including state armed forces,would be deployed for the forthcoming Manipur Assembly elections on January 28,Manipur chief electoral officer P C Lawmkunga said on Tuesday.
He said about 200 companies of para-military forces would arrive here on January 10 and besides this,state armed police would also be deployed.
The state police department,he said,was chalking out plans about the deployment of the forces during the one-day poll.
About 17,40,820 voters,including 8,89,497 female voters would exercise their franchise during the polls where they would cast votes at 2357 polling stations spread across valley and hill districts.
Lawmkunga said about 13,000 polling personnel would be used during the polls.
Official sources said more than 50 income tax department personnel from the Centre have arrived to check the polling expenditures of the candidates in the forthcoming polls.
