Revenue official arrested for fraud in Udhampur

Two persons,including a revenue official,have been arrested for allegedly transferring fraudulently into their accounts compensation money meant for owners for sale of land in Udhampur district.

Two persons,including a revenue official,have been arrested for allegedly transferring fraudulently into their accounts compensation money meant for owners for sale of land in Udhampur district.

The accused have been identified as Patwari Halqa (Revenue Official) Uttam Singh and Romesh Singh,police said today.

They were arrested after a written complaint by one Kashmir Singh on April 25 alleging that the two had paid him only Rs 2,73,000 of the Rs 11,73,000 from the sale of his land at Roun village.

The duo had allegedly also duped other land owners in this manner,police said,adding,investigations were on to determine the exact amount of money they have garnered for themselves,police said.
