Over 100 illegal structures removed from near Dal Lake

21 trucks transporting illegal construction material were also seized during the drive

In an effort to restore the Dal Lake’s grandeur,over 100 illegal structures in and around the water body have been removed.

Jammu and Kashmir Lakes and Waterways Development Authority (LAWDA) has removed 101 illegal structures in and around the Dal Lake during the last six months,an official spokesman said.

Twenty-one trucks transporting illegal construction material were also seized during the drive,he said.

An FIR has been lodged against four persons for stocking illegal construction material in their premises,while another FIR has been registered against 12 people involved in the illegal construction,the spokesman said.

He said the people have been asked to restrain from carrying out any sort of construction,encroachment and transportation of construction material in the local area of LAWDA.
