Orissa court acquits 30 in Ajit Bardhan murder case

All the 30 tribals accused in murder of Koida police sub-inspector have been freed due to lack of evidence.

A fast track court here has acquitted all the 30 tribals accused in the murder of Koida police sub-inspector,Ajit Bardhan,in 2009 due to lack of evidence.

Additional District and Session Judge (Fast track) G B Patnaik in his verdict yesterday acquitted 30 accused in the absence of any evidence.

The court had examined 15 witnesses including ten independent witnesses during trial.

According to prosecution,30 tribals mostly from Silipunji,Chandiposh,Champajharan and Bhalupali villages under Banki police statin were booked for the killing of Ajit Bardhan on July 17,2009.

The tribals were branded as Maoists by the police and booked under several sections of IPC and the Arms Act.
