As many as 13 new faces,including five from the National Conference,will be inducted in the Jammu and Kashmir Cabinet on Saturday,taking the strength of the six-month-old coalition ministry to 23.
Tomorrow’s Cabinet expansion will see inclusion of ministers of cabinet rank,ministers of state with independent charges and minister of states.
Sakina Itoo,who has braved as many as five suicide attempts on her life by Lashker-e-Taiba militants,will be the first woman minister in Omar’s cabinet.
The oath will be administered by Governor N N Vohra at a ceremony at Raj Bhavan.
Omar and nine cabinet ministers — five from Congress and four from NC — had taken oath on January 5 after the two parties formed a coalition following a hung verdict in the December 2008 state assembly elections.
Among others to take oath tomorrow are Nasir Sogami,who won on a National Conference ticket from the prestigious Amira Kadal constituency.
Former Chief Minister Mufti Mohammed Sayeed’s detractor Ghulam Hassan Mir,who defeated National Conference’s Musatafa Kamal in Tangmarg,will also be inducted tomorrow.
Qamar Ali Akhoon,noted National Conference leader from Kargil,will be among the 13 ministers sworn-in besides Raman Bhalla and Manohar Lal Sharma of Congress.
