Omar welcomes new flight timings

The flights will be operational from 7 am to 5.30 pm and will boost the tourism industry.

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has welcomed the extension in timings of flights to and fro Srinagar international airport.

“The Chief Minister has appreciated the operationlising of mornings flights from 7 am and expressed hope that the timing for evening flights will be extended to 5.30 pm very soon,” an official spokesman said.

The prolonged flight operations will allow tourists visiting Kashmir to better plan their holidays,which will boost the tourism industry in the state,Abdullah said,speaking at a function last evening.

During a conference on tourism in Jammu and Kashmir on Friday,the Chief Minister had asked the Centre to allow extended flight operations from Srinagar airport as the Valley has immense potential for tourism development.

He said the government is keen to develop tourism infrastructure of international level.

He said two international Golf courses,one in Srinagar and another in Pahalgam,are ready for hosting international Golf events while the third one in Gulmarg will be ready by the next month.

The Chief Minister said Kashmir is completely safe for the tourists.
