A moderate intensity earthquake measuring 5.5 on the Richter scale shook parts of northeast on Tuesday. The epicentre of the quake was located along Myanmar-India border and occurred at 2:32 pm,officials at the Central Seismological Observatory said here.
The impact of the quake was felt at many places in the North-East including Guwahati,Shillong,Imphal,Itanagar and northern Bengal. There was no report of any damage to life and property,they added.
