J-K highway to go one-way for darbar move on Oct 30-31

The Darbar move is a 135-year-ld tradition.

To facilitate trouble-free passage of the darbar move convoys for the bi-annual practice of shifting the seat of power from the Valley to Jammu,police on Friday ordered one-way traffic on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway on October 30 and 31.

“There will be one-way traffic from Srinagar to Jammu on October 30 and 31st for the smooth passage of the Darbar move convoys from the summer capital,” SSP,Traffic National Highway,Vijay Kumar said.

Darbar move shifts from the summer capital of Srinagar to Jammu at the end of October and reopens in Jammu in the second week of November,while offices close in April-end in Jammu and reopen in Srinagar in May.

Kumar also appealed to the general public for cooperation with the traffic police for the smooth passage of the darbar move convoy.

Keeping in view the 135-year-old tradition,traffic will be one way on National Highway IA from Srinagar to Jammu on October 30 and 31 and November 6 and 7 respectively.

Over hundreds of trucks carrying office files,furniture,computers,and other office records and movable items of dozens of offices including civil secretariat,police headquarter,JK Assembly and Raj Bhawan from Jammu to Srinagar.
