Jammu hoteliers pat SASB for measures to preserve holy lingam

Helipad shifted from Amarnath cave, burning of incense at sanctorum prohibited.

Jammu hoteliers’ body today lauded Shri Amarnath Shrine Board (SASB) for taking efforts to preserve the ice lingam of Lord Shiva at the 13,500-feet high at Amarnath cave shrine in south Kashmir Himalayas.

“We are happy that SASB has taken various measures to check the melting of the lingam. The holy lingam of Lord Shiva is still over 8 feet tall,” said Inderjeet Khajuria,President of All Jammu Hotels and Lodges Association.

“Shifting the nearest helipad further away from the cave and prohibiting the burning of any material, including incense at the sanctum sanctorum, has arrested the melting to a great extent,” he said on his return from the yatra.

Kahjuria also expressed satisfaction over the foolproof security arrangements made along the Amarnath yatra route, right from Jammu to the cave shrine.
