He said New Delhi should involve Pakistan and Kashmiris in the dialogue process and also act upon the proposals put forth by Hurriyat Conference to find a lasting solution to the Kashmir issue.
“There is no escape route… the Kashmiris cannot be suppressed by force or economic packages,” Mirwaiz said, adding,”the time has come when the promises made to Kashmiris by New Delhi be fulfilled and Kashmiris accepted as the basic party to the issue.”
Expressing satisfaction over his the six-week long tour of the US,Britain and Geneva, the Hurriyat chairman said,”The happenings in the Middle East will have a bearing on Kashmir issue.
“The importance of finding a solution to Kashmir issue has gained momentum after the uprising in the Middle east. The people have understood that Kashmir is a core issue in the sub-continent like Palestine is in the Middle East.
“The people of the Middle East are fighting for their rights and the people of Kashmir are also seeking right to self-determination in accordance with the promises made by Indian leaders,” he said.
Referring to his engagements abroad,he said,”The situation has changed as every body is aware of the Kashmir issue and we do not need to brief them about the history of the long standing problem.
“They are aware about the Kashmir issue and they know that it is a people’s movement. They are aware that it is not a sponsored movement but an indigenous struggle for which the people have rendered supreme sacrifices,” he said.
Mirwaiz said the Kashmir issue is resonating in every forum.
