Encounter breaks out in Poonch

A fierce gunbattle today broke out between security forces and militants in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir.

On a specific information about the presence of three to four militants,a joint team of Rashtriya Rifles troops and Special Operation group (SOG) of Police launched a cordon and search operation in Sanjyote forest belt,about 200 kms from Jammu,around 0400 hours,police said.

The operation group challenged the militants around 1000 hours resulting in exchanges of fire between two sides,they said.

Additional troops have been rushed to the area,they said.
