Akole gang-rape case: suspects under police custody

Suspects were arrested within three days.

Three persons arrested in connection with the Akole dacoity and gang-rape case have been remanded to 10 days of police custody by local court. The three accused include Babusha Nehrya Kale (30),Gorakh Tasalu Bhosale(27) and goldsmith Santosh Dinkar (36),police said. They were arrested on Monday at Kolgaon in Shrigonde taluka in Ahmednagar,district police chief Krishna Prakash said PTI.

on Monday,police added. “The suspects were caught within three days,Hence allegations of crumbling law and order system in the state is not correct,” DGP of Maharashtra Ajit Parasnis said.

Leader of Opposition in Maharashtra assembly Khadase and Pandurang Phundkar,Leader of Opposition in the state legislative council had said that the incident is a “proof of the collapsing law and order situation in the state.” Khadase paid a visit to Veergaon on Monday. State government must take the responsibility of the rehabilitation of victim’s families instead of throwing cash,they said. Meanwhile,State Home Minister R R Patil is scheduled to visit Veergaon,NCP district chief Ghanshyam Shelar said. Earlier,senior BJP leader Gopinath Munde also demanded a special squad of the Crime Investigation Department (CID) to probe the incident.

A gang of six dacoits robbed six women in Veergaon village of Akole taluka of Ahmednagar,allegedly gang-raped two and stripped and beat up four older women,before decamping with gold ornaments and cash last Saturday.
