Eleven undertrial prisoners (UPTs) lodged in Maoist related cases were released while four of them acquitted by a Fast Track court here in absence of proper evidence.
Additional District Judge (Fast Track) Gopabandhu Patnaik absolved seven suspected Maoist undertrial prisoners of charges while four others were released for lack of evidence against them yesterday.
Identified as Rajesh Gudia,Salim Barla,Jablun Munda and Marshal Horo,they were arrested by Koida police of Bonai sub-division for their alleged involvement in the murder of CITU leader Thomas Munda and other violence.
The court did not find any evidence against Barla,Munda and Horo and issued the release order. Gudia was also set free as the government lawyer did not contest his release.
The court also acquitted Gangi Oram and his son Raju Oram,Jaidev Munda,Mahabir Mundari,Gangaram Gope,Mana Munda and another Raju Oram of several charges framed by the Chandiposh police. But their immediate release was not possible as several other charges were pending.
