Emphasising various central government schemes for farmers and efforts to alleviate poverty, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh told farmers at the Kisan Mahakumbh rally in Chhattisgarh’s Raipur city that if PM Narendra Modi is elected for the third term in the 2024 Lok Sabha polls, “not even one poor person will be left in Hindustan. This is our promise.”
Citing a NITI Aayog report, Singh said due to PM Modi’s policies 25 crore people in India are now above BPL and added every poor person will now get a proper house and tap water connection in rural India.
Referring to India’s formidable position in global affairs, Singh praised Modi for ensuring the safe return of medical students from India stuck in war-torn Ukraine. “Our PM Modi’s position is such that when parents of 26,000 children stuck in the Ukraine-Russia war asked Modiji to bring their children back, he called up Russian President (Vladimir) Putin, Ukraine President (Volodymyr) Zelenskyy and US President (Joe) Biden and stopped the war for four and half hours. This is our stature.”
“Now Ram Rajya’s Silsila has started in Hindustan. We are entering a new age. Today, the world listens to what India has to say unlike in the past,” he said, referring to the inauguration of Ram Temple in Ayodhya.
Singh listed Modi government’s various initiatives for farmers like the Soil Health Card scheme, Kisan Samman Nidhi and underlined how fertilisers, which are expensive in the US, are supplied to farmers at a subsidised rate. “In America, one bag of urea fertilisers is available for Rs 3,000… India is the only country where urea is being provided to farmers at Rs 300 per bag. Russia-Ukraine war resulted in price rise but the Modi government did not allow prices of seeds and fertilisers to go up. We will not allow the problems of farmers to increase at any cost,” he added.
“…I am the son of a farmer and hail from a village. Farmers can yield gold from the soil with their efforts and hard work. My government is standing shoulder to shoulder with farmers… I can say that without development of farmers and villages, India cannot be developed,” he said. Targeting the previous Congress regime, he said, “There are no corruption allegations against us. We have a clean track record unlike the previous Congress regime…”
