Geetika Sharma suicide: Gopal Kanda’s statement contradicts what Chadha said: Police

With the court refusing police custody of Chadha,who is in judicial custody,it’s difficult for the police to probe the sequence of events. Kanda’s seven-day police custody ends on Friday and he will be produced before ACMM,Rohini,on Saturday.

The police submitted remand papers at the court on August 21. A report filed by the investigating officer revealed that MDLR HR executive Shiv Roop Singh was hired by Chadha and Kanda to keep a tab on Geetika. The report submitted to the court reads,“It is submitted that Chan Shiv Roop Singh was employed to investigate the matter of Geetika Sharma for Emirates on the basis of forged documents and the mail which was sent to Geetika by Shiv Roop Singh was actually forwarded to him by Aruna Chadha of MDLR.” The police have added section 66 A of the IT Act in the FIR filed at Bharat Nagar police station. Shiv Roop is being treated as a suspect,according to DCP (North West) P Karunakaran. Till Thursday evening,he was being questioned at Ashok Vihar police station. “He was hired to keep a tab on Geetika. He was instrumental in getting forged papers prepared and sending the mail. He knew that he was forwarding a forged mail to Emirates,still he committed the crime. We are trying to verify his role in destroying evidence.

Geetika in her suicide note had alleged that Ankita,an employee of MDLR,had an extramarital affair with Kanda and they have a three-year-old daughter. “Ankita is presently in

Singapore. Her brother has assured us that she will join the investigation,” added the police official. Accused of stealing Geetika’s laptop,Ankita has an FIR registered against her in Goa.

Why was Kanda made minister despite facing 4 criminal cases: INLD on Thursday sought clarification from Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda for appointing Gopal Goyal Kanda as a minister of state despite him “facing four criminal cases.” “How did Hooda appoint a person like Kanda,who disclosed in his election affidavit that he is facing four criminal cases,as a minister in his cabinet and that too with the key home portfolio,” INLD general secretary Ajay Singh Chautala asked.

He also accused Hooda of trying to shield Kanda. “The CM and his officials till the last minute of Kanda’s surrender had protected him and provided him police cover,” he claimed.

He also refuted assertions that the former minister once enjoyed proximity with the Chautalas in Sirsa,and said,“Kanda had never even been a primary member of the INLD.”
