SDM takes a hit during police lathicharge in Patna

A video of the purported incident shows a policeman accidentally hitting SDM Shrikant Kundlik Khandekar, who was monitoring the situation, with his lathi, but immediately realising his mistake.

Although the errant policeman was reprimanded, no action was taken against him, police sources said.

The protest in Patna was part of a nationwide shutdown that Dalit and Adivasi organisations called to protest the Supreme Court ruling. The bandh was partially successful, with commercial vehicles plying after 1 pm. However, most schools and colleges were closed.
