PM Modi offers prayers at Parvati Kund in Uttarakhand’s Pithoragarh

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday visited Parvati Kund in Uttarakhand’s Pithoragarh district and offered prayers at the Shiva temple. Modi is scheduled to lay the foundation stone for several projects and inaugurate schemes worth Rs 4,200 crore in the hill state later.

“The Prime Minister had a grand darshan of Adi Kailash from the temple and he prayed for the happiness, prosperity, and well-being of the country,” the Uttarakhand government said in a statement. PM Modi is the first Prime Minister of the country to visit Adi Kailash, the government added. Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami accompanied PM Modi.

PM Modi landed at Jolingkong helipad in Pithoragarh district at 8.45 am and travelled half a kilometre by car to reach Parvati Sarovar and Shiva Temple situated on the top of the Himalayas. Modi worshipped and meditated for about 25 minutes, the government statement said.

After visiting Adi Kailash, PM Modi left for Gunji village where he talked to locals about his ‘Vocal for Local scheme and other development projects. He also visited an exhibition based on local art and products and interacted with Army, Indo-Tibetan Border Police and Border Roads Organisation employees.

The Uttarakhand government is planning to develop 16 temples in the Kumaon division under its ambitious Manaskhand Mandir Mala Mission, including the Jageshwar Mahadev Temple in Almora, Chitai Golu Temple, Suryadev Temple in Katarmal, Kasar Devi Temple, Nanda Devi Temple, Patal Bhuvaneshwar Temple in Pithoragarh etc.
