‘If your Budget is so good, why are Indians leaving country?’: Opposition lashes out at Govt in Parliament over US deportation

He said the Budget is “void of a roadmap to make India developed”. “The roadmap is not visible because as the Budget was unveiled, we have seen those pictures… in those pictures, hathon me hathkadi aur pairon me bediyan (handcuffs and shackles) are seen,” he said, pointing to the deportation of illegal immigrants from the US.

Without naming PM Narendra Modi, who is on a two-nation visit to France and the US, Yadav said, “If possible, bring some more Indians with you…”

Congress member Saleng A Sangma said, “It was unfortunate to see citizens of India shackled, chained, and brought as prisoners from the USA… If the Budget is so good, why are our own citizens fleeing to get better jobs in other countries?” he said.

Hanuman Beniwal of RLP criticised the government for not increasing the MGNREGS budget and demanded income up to Rs 15 lakh be made tax-free.

Yadav also attacked the government over “problems” faced by people going for the Maha Kumbh at Prayagraj in Uttar Pradesh. “People faced problems and it happened for the first time that people were stuck in a 300 km jam… Two Chief Ministers had to be deputed… Their office bearers had to make an appeal that BJP workers should come out to help the people,” Yadav said.

When Yadav raised the issue, BJP member Nishikant Dubey said the SP leader can not speak against any religion.

Tewari: Return in shackles… matter of India’s self-respect

Congress MP Manish Tewari in the Lok Sabha on Tuesday raised concerns over the recent deportation of some Indians from the United States “in handcuffs and shackles”.

Speaking during Zero Hour, Tewari asked whether the “so-called illegal immigrant” Indians should be shackled while being deported. Tewari was still speaking when Jagdambika Pal, who was chairing, moved on to the next speaker.

Tewari later posted on X: “Extremely unfortunate that my microphone was shut off when I put forth the sensitive issue of Indians detained in the USA being deported to India in handcuffs and shackles, completely robbed of basic human dignity and rights. Enquired from (Govt) if it considers such treatment fair on the undocumented Indians who are in the US for a living and aren’t terrorists or criminals per se, emphasising a dire need to tide over the BJP-Congress agenda when it’s a question of our country’s self-respect.”
