Bihar Chief Minister Nitish KumarBihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Tuesday filed nomination papers for re-election as a Member of Legislative Council.
Elections to 11 MLC seats are due on March 21. The tenure of these 11 MLCs, including Kumar, who has been a member of the upper House since 2005, is ending in May. The Bihar CM is most likely to be elected unopposed due to favourable numbers for the BJP-led NDA in the Assembly.
Besides Kumar, nomination papers were filed by his cabinet colleague Santosh Suman and JD(U) MLC Khalid Anwar.
The other MLCs whose term is ending are former CM Rabri Devi and Ramchandra Purve of RJD; BJP’s Syed Shahnawaz Hussain, Sanjay Paswan and Mangal Pandey; Congress’s Prem Chandra Mishra, , JD (U)’s Rameshwar Mahto and Sanjay Kumar Jha.
