(PTI Photo)Prime Minister Narendra Modi Thursday expressed his gratitude to the people of Bihar for giving the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) the biggest political mandate in the Assembly elections since 2010, by waving his ‘gamchha’ in signature style, a gesture which has gone viral on social media.
Modi arrived at Patna’s Gandhi Maidan today to attend the swearing-in ceremony of Nitish Kumar as the Bihar Chief Minister for a record 10th time. Alongside Nitish, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders Samrat Choudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha also took oath as Bihar ministers.
The NDA returned to power in Bihar on November 14 after securing a landslide majority, with 202 out of 243 seats, in the Assembly elections. The BJP bagged 89, JD(U) 85, LJP(RV) 19, HAM 5 and RLM 4.

A day earlier, Nitish was unanimously elected leader of the NDA at a meeting of its 202 legislators in the Central Hall of the Assembly. The JD(U) had elected Nitish as leader of its legislature party at a separate meeting.
Governor Arif Mohammad Khan administered oaths to 23 other leaders at the ceremony on Thursday, who will together form Nitish Kumar’s tenth government in Bihar.
Euphoric after NDA’s victory, Modi on Friday claimed that there has been unease among a section of Congress leaders over “negative politics” of the party, which could lead towards yet another split. Responding to Congress allies, he repeated his warning that the Grand Old Party would prove to be a liability as it could swallow their vote base in its quest for revival.
